Health Literacy

Health literacy is very important when it comes to communication with clients. It is imperative that as clinicians we make sure that our clients are aware of the information that we are sharing with them. Often times, many individuals are completely unaware of the health condition, the treatment, and even their role the situation. A video shown in class displayed how many people weren’t able to read and did not understand when to even take their prescription medicine. To mind the gap in health literacy, we must look for cues and follow up with our clients to make sure they understand the basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.
