Protecting the Brain

About 2 million people sustain from brain injuries yearly in the United States. These brain injuries can range from mild to severe. Therefore, it is important to take proper caution when experiencing any type of injury to the brain and seek care soon. Today in class, I learned that their are two categories when talking about acquired brain injuries: traumatic brain injury (TBI) and non traumatic brain injury (NTBI). TBI include MVC, GSW, and falls. NTBI include CVA (stroke), tumor, or infection. Nevertheless, they all play a large part in physical, emotional, cognitive, and other daily functions. Brain injuries can change any individuals life and those around them tremendously. It is important to continue to support the individual because this is not something that they wanted to occur!
