Mind the Gap

It is important to be personal with individuals with neurological dysfunction because it helps to place the client first! This perspective allows the practitioner to mind the gap between the client and the problem that they might be having. Based on the TEDTalk, I learned that it is imperative that we don't put some much input on the diagnoses but remember that these are still people who we are helping. You never know what that person might be going through. As an occupational therapist, if we are there to drive their motivation we will see a change in their occupation performance! Motivation, encouragement, and support can all go along way. No one wants to be place in a category based off their condition or even stereotyped. Every person is different and unique; therefore, we must treat everyone as their own person!
